Setia Malaysia

Setia Malaysia Song

For the first time in history, Malaysia’s head of state, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah along with Cabinet Ministers recorded a special video in conjunction with the 62nd Merdeka Day celebrations with a song performance titled ‘Setia’.

Although it’s an old patriotic song that I’ve listened to since I was young, this version has certainly bring a smile to my face. I’m sure many other Malaysians would have enjoyed it too.

Setia Song Lyrics

Demi negara yang tercinta
Di curahkan bakti penuh setia
Demi raja yang disanjung tinggi
Kesetiaan tak berbelah bagi

Kepada pemimpin kepada rakyat
Khidmat diberi penuh taat
Sama bekerja sama berusaha
Setia berkhidmat untuk semua

Rela berkorban apa saja
Amanah bangsa tetap dijaga
Kami berikrar penuh setia
Untuk agama, bangsa dan negara

Demi negara yang tercinta
Di curahkan bakti penuh setia
Demi raja yang disanjung tinggi
Kesetiaan tak berbelah bagi

Kepada pemimpin kepada rakyat
Khidmat diberi penuh taat
Sama bekerja sama berusaha
Setia berkhidmat untuk semua

Rela berkorban apa saja
Amanah bangsa tetap dijaga
Kami berikrar penuh setia
Untuk agama, bangsa dan negara

While many may still have a strict watchful eye on the new government, Pakatan Harapan, I, on the other hand feel a sense of relieve, knowing we have escaped a dangerous situation of what might happened to the country in the future.

Face it, all of us knew what was going on & what could have happened if history was a little different during our last general election.

A strict watchful eye, yes. But lets not overdo things and become a self-proclaimed political extremist lahhh.

Malaysia is a wonderful country with a majority mixture of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European cultural influences. I grew up with friends who have different beliefs and races.

I honestly don’t give a fuck mind if anyone has his or her own political preferences but hey, I believe many of us are old enough to decide what is best for our next future generations. Try walking into a room full of Liverpool fans and scream at them by saying Manchester is better than Liverpool.

As a proud citizen of Malaysia, all I can hope is for a much better Malaysia not only for me or my wife but for our son & all other next future generations in the country. Any racist bigot including the ones in my own Chinese community can go suck his/her own mother’s titties because they are no different than a spoilt brat.

I love my country and I am proud to be a Malaysian. Happy 62nd Independence Day to all Malaysians…

Parenting Fail: What we saw on the road pisses us off

Parenting Fail

We were on our way back from Midvalley Megamall after meeting a friend and his wife, Jason and Cindy. What caught both our eyes was the sight of one car on the main road.

Parenting Fail

Yes, it was someone standing and sticking her head out of the rooftop of a moving car. And she is probably 10 years old at most. There were two adults in the car and we assume the driver is her father who was doing an amazing job as a parent. – Parenting Fail

While I do not wish to comment much on anyone’s parenting method; the adults in the car were not only endangering the child and their own lives, but other drivers on the road as well. It is a small car and any slight impact or an emergency break would have caused serious consequences.

If you’re someone who thinks it is okay to risk the safety of your child in a moving vehicle in a busy road, try reading this other article I read about failed parenting. http://bit.do/sunroof13yearold

I’m sure all kids love free-solo flying moments.

Before I bought my Proton X70, I have almost wanted to get the model with the highest specs but thanks to the honesty of the salesman, he reminded me that we are staying in Malaysia and it may not be a very good idea to get the sun-roof window. When my wife first asked me how’s the weather in Malaysia when we first met, I told her that there are only 4 types of weather – Hot, Very Hot, Super Hot and Fucking Extremely Hot. It is kinda pointless at least for us to get a car with an automatic sunroof, so we got the Executive 2WD which was more than enough for our usage and safety!

Ok, maybe not that hot but you get the picture…

So, the idea of having a sunroof window may not be such a very good idea; at least for me. Moreover, it will be a matter of time when the rubber starts to get weak and rain water may find its way into the car.

But hey, if you’re someone who likes to show-off and you’ve decided to take your daughter car for a spin, by all means, it’s your choice!

I’m certain that the driver has been car accident-free in the past; hence, the stupidity boldness of doing what he was doing on such a busy road. I’m sure we know what would happen if he made an emergency break all of a sudden. Not insulting anyone who drives a small car, but in their case, the impact to a smaller car will be much bigger as compared to a bigger one with bigger wheels and better security features.

As a parent, I think safety in every single way especially in a moving vehicle is the highest priority all parents should give to themselves and their children. More so when you’re entering a very, very, very busy MAIN road.

Parenting Fail

What I can take from this unusual sight which thankfully, we don’t see everyday, is… the child was not at fault because she would not be standing up and sticking her head outside the window in the first place unless she was encouraged by the adults. And I would assume she’s excited to stand up after seeing the adults do it too.

And wait, wouldn’t this be illegal? If it is a mandatory for passengers to buckle their seat belts in a moving vehicle, unless somehow they modified their seat belts to be able to tie her legs, I think the adults should be given a heavy fine.

Photo shamelessly stolen off Google.com but it was a drunk passenger who was tied up with seat belts on the Siberian Airlines flight. But you get what I mean when I mentioned tying your child’s legs earlier.

But hey, who the fuck cares? She’s not my child.

Oh, by the way…she wore nice shades.

So dear parents, please treasure your children’s lives.

I’ve Waited 35 Years For You

Ann Elizabeth and Chris Thoo

Never could I have imagined finding someone like Ann to be my soulmate for life. Someone who will always be there for me, giving unconditional love and care to me and sharing happiness and perverted funny jokes as if we’re best friends since forever.

I am thankful that she’s the one and I guess anyone who has yet to know her can very well guess from the video below how incredibly fun and loving she can be as a soulmate.

Thank you, Ann Elizabeth Lee for choosing me as your lawfully wedded husband. Thank you for believing in me and giving your very best to our relationship. It was certainly a worthy 35 years of wait and you were that missing piece of the puzzle that I’ve always been trying to complete. This post is just one of the many wonderful memories that we have. And I could still remember how tiring but fun moments that we had, when we were taking our pre-wedding photographs. I have so many beautiful first-time experiences with you.

Life

Almost 4 Times A Decade

Chris Thoo

It’s been awhile since I’ve started blogging in 2008.

I started a blog called www.speakingtomato.com which is now owned by someone who doesn’t seem to do much with it. I know I used to write nonsensical articles and come to think of it, it was probably a mere reflection of what I have always wanted to do during my geeky and nerdy life during my early 20s.

At that time, there was this blogging community called Nuffnang and through this platform, I’m lucky enough to have connected with many other fellow bloggers; some who are still in contact…I think.

Nevertheless, as I’ve mentioned, I was pretty much a nerd; or rather someone who’s just not very good at socialising with others. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I never wanted to try; it’s just that…I was really bad at it. Nowadays, I feel much better at socialising with others probably because time has passed and given the years of having an experience to work with so many people and mixing with people from different races, cultures and backgrounds. …Or probably I’m just older.

Well, I stopped blogging in 2010, so it’s almost a decade. Also, I think I’m pretty happier with my current self as compared to the younger versions in the past.

I’ve experienced first time stuff…well, I still do, especially as a parent now.
I’ve met friends…some stayed on, some still say hi and bye and some decided to go on different paths.

Come to think of it, a decade can really change a person’s life. The first 10 years of my life, followed with the next 10 years when I became 20 and another 10 years when I became 30 and the current 10 years when I’m …well, 8 years actually…when I’m now 38.

These nearly 4 times of decades in my life gave me a lot of insights in life and if you’re asking me how I feel about them…they’re worth it.

I’m usually someone who cherishes all moments in my life…even the bad ones. Unlike the quote which I shamelessly stole from Google.com, I don’t really give a fuck damn because nowadays there are many people who are willing to be intoxicated. Toxic People

We live in a world where people are not only easily triggered but they think that the world revolves around them and everything is about them. The quote above is not meant for anyone and it should be used as a reference in life to stay happy and positive always. I can’t always make everyone happy; but I can certainly make the people who matter to me most happy.

Thanks to the bad experiences, I was taught valuable lessons so I’ll never fuck up repeat them again. Well, once bitten, twice shy but the third and onwards makes you wonder why…why are you such a sohai silly guy eh?

Coming back to this new blog of mine, well, I have to start somewhere; and with a purpose so I can religiously motivate myself to write more rather than the nonsensical stuff I did years ago.

So I’m officially dedicating this blog to my wife and baby son – Ann and baby Yang, because they are my newfound reasons why I should be much better as a person – as a son, a brother, a husband and a father (Level 999 upgrade!). Obviously this blog is also dedicated to all our loved ones who supported us tremendously and being part of our life journey.
